Fisher & Paykel Healthcare announced today a $250,000 sponsorship agreement with the Auckland Health Foundation. The company’s donation will be used to refurbish the Fisher & Paykel Clinical Education Centre at Auckland City Hospital.
“We look forward to continuing our partnership with Auckland District Health Board, Auckland City Hospital and the foundation,” said Marcus Driller, VP – Corporate at Fisher & Paykel Healthcare. “The Clinical Education Centre is overdue for a refurbishment, and we are excited to see the improvements happen over the next year,” he said.
“We are really grateful to Fisher & Paykel Healthcare for their generosity,” said Gwen Green, CEO of the Auckland Health Foundation. “Their support will help Auckland DHB continue to deliver world-class clinical training, and will ensure healthcare professionals have access to cutting-edge facilities, which will improve their learning experience.”
The Fisher & Paykel Healthcare Clinical Education Centre opened in 2004 on level 5 of the hospital. It offers lecture theatres for groups of 100 or 200, meeting rooms and a library where critical training is provided to medical practitioners. Thanks to the donation from Fisher & Paykel Healthcare and other key sponsors, the centre will benefit from upgrades to lighting, technology and furnishings.
The Auckland Health Foundation goes beyond what is currently funded in the healthcare system to support innovation, research and facilities, which have the capacity to transform healthcare and benefit the many patients and communities cared for by Auckland DHB’s adult health services.
“The foundation relies on donations and external support to turn ideas into reality,” said Green. “It is heartening to have the support of such an enduring and respected New Zealand company as Fisher & Paykel Healthcare, and we would be delighted if other companies follow their lead and join them in financially supporting the Clinical Education Centre’s refurbishment.”
About the Auckland Health Foundation
Through donations, the Auckland Health Foundation financially supports projects, research and education for adult health services, which have the capacity to transform healthcare and wellness and the way it is delivered within Auckland DHB. The foundation goes beyond what is presently funded in the healthcare system to focus on promising ideas, innovations and technologies that have the potential to benefit our patients and community, but could otherwise not be developed without external investment.
