Fisher & Paykel Healthcare building programme underway in New Zealand

Fisher & Paykel Healthcare announced today that it has signed a building construction contract with Leighs Construction for the fourth building on its Auckland campus.

The new building will have a total gross floor area of 35,700m2 and consist of a mix of R&D, pilot manufacturing and warehousing areas. Groundworks have been substantially completed, and construction will commence in late January 2018, with an expected operational date of 2020.

The new building will bring Fisher & Paykel Healthcare’s Auckland campus to a total of four buildings. The 42 hectare grounds currently host 2,300 employees, more than half of the company’s total global people of 4,100. The new building will accommodate expected growth until around 2023.

“The new building will be an exciting addition to our campus,” said Jonti Rhodes, General Manager Supply Chain, Environment & Facilities. “The blend of R&D, manufacturing and warehousing that we have in our existing buildings gives us a very open working environment and helps us work collaboratively across functional groups. It’s a unique, modern way of working that we are looking forward to developing further in the new building.”

The company has also commenced a building programme in Tijuana, Mexico, where construction of a second manufacturing facility is underway with an anticipated completion date of late 2018. The company has more than 950 employees in Tijuana, where it has been manufacturing in a leased facility since 2010.

The total cost of the building projects in New Zealand and Mexico is expected to be approximately NZ$200M. The new buildings will assist the company to accommodate the strong revenue and people growth anticipated over the coming decade.
