Fisher & Paykel Healthcare announce clinical research partnership with Counties Manukau Health

Fisher & Paykel Healthcare have announced a $1.5 million partnership agreement with Counties Manukau Health (CM Health) to provide funding for clinical research at Middlemore Hospital.
Over ten years, the DHB will receive up to $150,000 a year from Fisher & Paykel Healthcare to be used toward research projects that benefit local communities in South Auckland. This could include initiatives related to Maori and Pacific health, child health, and healthcare inequities.
“We have a long-standing relationship with CM Health. It’s a relationship started in good faith and built on trust – people to people – and one that we both derive great benefit from,” said Lewis Gradon, CEO of Fisher & Paykel Healthcare.
“There are 2,500 people working at Fisher & Paykel Healthcare in New Zealand, and most of them live in South Auckland. This donation is way for us to give back to our local community and invest in the health and well-being of our own people,” said Mr Gradon.

“We are really grateful for the generous support from Fisher & Paykel Healthcare and for our enduring collaboration,” said Sanjoy Nand, Chief of Allied Health, Scientific & Technical Professions for CM Health.
“We have some unique challenges and complex needs in our district, especially addressing diabetes and children’s health. This partnership will help us recruit and retain our top clinicians, who are drawn to research opportunities, and it will enable us to extend our research agenda,” said Nand.
Applications for research funding will be reviewed and assessed by a panel of CM Health senior leaders, as well as a representative from Fisher & Paykel Healthcare.
