Fisher & Paykel Healthcare celebrates the opening of the Sánchez Building

Fisher & Paykel Healthcare celebrated the opening of the Sánchez Building, its third manufacturing facility in Mexico with an event at its Tijuana facility.

Tijuana’s Mayor, Monserrat Caballero, Tijuana’s Government Secretary, Miguel Ángel Bujanda Ruiz, and Baja California Human Rights Commission’s President Jorge Ochoa attended, along with Fisher & Paykel Healthcare board members and employees.

CEO Lewis Gradon said the Sánchez Building is an investment that enables the company to increase production of world-leading healthcare solutions closer to its major markets.

“Manufacturing in Mexico has been great for us. Tijuana is a hub for global medical device manufacturers, so we have access to highly skilled people there. Growing our manufacturing capacity in Tijuana is part of our strategy to ensure we can respond quickly to changing patient needs,” said Mr Gradon.

The Sanchez Building is named after Raúl Sánchez, who was the company’s Director of Operations in Mexico from its opening in September 2010 until his retirement in 2020.

“Raúl’s commitment to fostering a trust-based and collaborative environment, where ideas could flourish and initiatives thrive, has been nothing short of remarkable,” said Mr Gradon.

The two-hectare building houses office, manufacturing and warehouse space. The building is certified by LEED, a widely used green building rating system.  It features a water re-use system for its bathrooms and gardens, high-efficiency air conditioning and lighting, an intelligent parking lot counting system, as well as spaces to support wellbeing.
