Airvo 3
nasal high flow therapy system

This page outlines information about the data generated by the F&P Airvo™ 3 device and how a user may access, retrieve and erase this data.

What data is generated by the Airvo 3 device?

The Airvo 3 device generates a range of different data:

  • the settings on the device, including set pressure, set oxygen, set flow, set humidity, serial number, model name;
  • device data, such as temperature, flow, voltage, current and other measurements from within the device;
  • battery data, including battery usage information logged directly by the smart battery
  • therapy usage, such as start time, run time, hours of usage, time of use;
  • parameters during therapy, such as pulse oximetry, heart rate; and
  • the local environment during therapy, such as room temperature, room humidity.

Please note the data generated by the device does not include personal data.

Format and estimated volume of data generated by the Airvo 3 device

The Airvo 3 device generates data in an encrypted, proprietary format.

The Airvo 3 device generates on average less than 1MB per session.

Does the Airvo 3 device generate data continuously and in real-time?

Yes, the Airvo 3 device generates data continuously while plugged into power.

The Airvo 3 device generates data at different rates – some data is generated at rates ranging from 100 times per second to once in 30 minutes or longer.

Is data stored on-device or remotely, and for how long?

Data is stored on-device, and data can be stored in remote storage if that data has been extracted using (i) the F&P Healthcare Device Manager application or (ii) the F&P InfoUSB™ stick.

Data stored on-device and on the InfoUSB stick will be overridden at different times ranging from one week to a few months, depending on data type and how frequently the device is used.

Data transmitted to Fisher & Paykel Healthcare (for example, through F&P Healthcare Device Manager) will be stored for up to ten (10) years. See here for more information about F&P Healthcare Device Manager data retention.

If you connect your Airvo 3 device with other third party systems such as electronic health records, bedside monitors and centralized monitoring systems via the data port adapter, certain data can be transferred from the Airvo 3 device to those systems.

Fisher & Paykel Healthcare uses this data to support the provision of medical therapies, to support medical device administration and management, and for device, product and service improvements e.g. firmware updates.

How can you access and retrieve the data?

Some data is available directly to view on the Airvo 3 device.  This data is in an encrypted, proprietary format, so while accessible to the user, it is not in a usable form for retrieval. The data on the InfoUSB stick is also in an encrypted, proprietary format, so is not in a usable form for retrieval.

Some data is accessible in F&P Healthcare Device Manager. See here for more information.

Otherwise, you can request a copy of Airvo 3 data which has been stored remotely through the Data Hub website form.

How can you erase the data?

You can erase limited data off the device using the factory reset functionality.  You can also erase data off the InfoUSB stick.
