Resuscitation

Newborn resuscitation aims to establish effective spontaneous breathing or assist ventilation of the lungs within the first few minutes of life. The F&P Neopuff™ T-piece Resuscitator can be used with the F&P 850 System to deliver this therapy.

T-piece resuscitation has been proven to:

help protect the lungs from injury by working to provide controlled and consistent PIP^1-3
establish and maintain functional residual capacity (FRC)⁴
promote normothermia when using heated and humidified T-piece resuscitation.⁵

Invasive ventilation

Invasive ventilation is a mode of respiratory support that replaces spontaneous breathing in neonates and infants with an artificial airway such as an endotracheal tube.

Delivering heated and humidified gas during invasive respiratory support has several key benefits.

Assists the natural defence mechanisms in the airway, which can be interrupted by the presence of an endotracheal tube.⁶
Promotes conservation of energy for growth and development.^7,8

Continuous positive airway pressure

Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) is a mode of noninvasive respiratory support that provides a continuous distending pressure throughout the respiratory cycle to spontaneously breathing patients.^11,12

There are several key benefits of CPAP therapy for infants.

Maintains functional residual capacity.^11,13
Reduces the work of breathing.^13,14,15
Decreases the need for mechanical ventilation.^16,17
