Is data stored on-device or remotely, and for how long?

Data is stored on-device and can be stored in remote storage, if data has been extracted using (i) the built-in modem, (ii) the InfoUSB™ stick or (iii)the F&P Healthcare Device Manager application.

Data stored on-device and on the InfoUSB stick will be overridden at different times ranging from one week to five (5) years, depending on data type and how frequently the device is used.

Data transmitted to the InfoSmart™ Web platform* will be stored for seven (7) years (five (5) years in France) after the healthcare provider has ceased use of their InfoSmart Web account, or earlier if we are asked to delete this data by the healthcare provider.

Data transmitted to Fisher & Paykel Healthcare (for example, through F&P Healthcare Device Manager) will be stored for up to ten (10) years. See here for more information about F&P Healthcare Device Manager data retention.

Fisher & Paykel Healthcare uses this data to support the provision of medical therapies, to support patients with their use of their device, to support medical device administration and management, and for device, product and service improvements e.g. firmware updates.

How can you access and retrieve the data?

Some data is available directly to view on the myAirvo 3 device.  This data is in an encrypted, proprietary format, so while accessible to the user, it is not in a usable form for retrieval.

The data on the InfoUSB stick is also in a proprietary format and is retrievable but will not be in a form that is easily accessible to most users.

Depending on what the patient has consented to, certain data can be accessed and/or retrieved through the InfoSmart Web Platform*, the F&P Healthcare Device Manager or directly from Fisher & Paykel Healthcare through the Data Hub website form:

  • If a patient consents to sharing data with their healthcare professional, certain data can be transferred from the InfoUSB stick or via the built-in modem to the InfoSmart Web platform.  That data can be viewed through, and downloaded from, the InfoSmart Web platform*.
  • If F&P Healthcare Device Manager is used with the myAirvo 3 device, certain data may be accessible or retrievable through F&P Healthcare Device Manager.  See here for more information.
  • Fisher & Paykel Healthcare only has access to limited de-identified therapy data and engineering data if a patient has consented to share their information with their healthcare professional via the InfoSmart Web platform*.  If a patient has consented to share additional information on the myAirvo 3 device, Fisher & Paykel Healthcare will also have access to this information and a user may request access to this data through the Data Hub website form.
