Fisher & Paykel Healthcare Corporation Limited (NZSX:FPH, ASX:FPH) advises that Tony Carter has been appointed as an independent, non- executive director of the company effective 1 December 2010.
Chairman, Gary Paykel said, “We are extremely pleased to welcome Tony to the board and believe that his engineering background and considerable business experience will add to the strength of our board”.
Tony Carter has recently retired from his position as Managing Director of Foodstuffs New Zealand and will resign as Managing Director of Foodstuffs Auckland on 1 December 2010. He has been a non-executive director of Vector Limited since 2007, of Fletcher Building Limited since September this year and will join the Air New Zealand Limited board on 1 December 2010. Mr Carter is also a trustee of the Maurice Carter Charitable Trust. He received his Master of Engineering degree from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, and a Master of Philosophy degree from Loughborough University of Technology, United Kingdom.
Fisher & Paykel Healthcare Corporation Limited also announce that Sir Colin Maiden has advised that he will retire from the board with effect from 22 February 2011.
Mr Paykel warmly thanked Sir Colin Maiden for his period of long service on the board, “Sir Colin joined the board of Fisher & Paykel in 1978, went on to serve as chairman for 12 years and oversaw the reorganisation and separation of Fisher & Paykel Healthcare in 2001. He has made an outstanding contribution to the company during his 32 years as a director and as a longstanding member of the Audit & Risk, Nomination and Remuneration Committees. We wish him all the best for the future”.
